Buckwheat filled zafus/zabutons are popular with mediators since the cushion allows for ample support that is easily adjustable during meditation sessions.
Buckwheat hulls, an alternative natural material used to fill our zafus, are lightweight, very malleable and conform easily to a comfortable sitting position. The hulls themselves allow the cushion to breathe and so can minimize absorption of odors.
